Most cookie policies are a wall of text protecting a wall of trackers. This one is short because there is almost nothing to declare: this site sets no cookies, loads no third-party embeds, and fetches no fonts from anyone else’s server.
What remains is a handful of values your browser keeps for you, all listed in §II, and one anonymous page count you can switch off in §III.
§ I
There are no cookies
This is not a figure of speech. This website sets no cookies at all — not first-party, not third-party, not analytics, not advertising. There is no consent banner because there is nothing here that needs one under the rule that requires them.
What the site does use is your browser’s local storage: a small set of named values kept on your own device so the site behaves sensibly when you come back. They are listed in full below, and nothing in that list is transmitted to us — with one exception, the operator key in the last row, which is a password sent to the private operator page by whoever is signing in to it. You will never encounter that one.
One item is different, and it is the only one worth a decision: an anonymous count of page views. §III explains it and gives you a switch.
§ II
Everything stored on your device
The complete inventory. “Strictly necessary” means the item exists to deliver something you asked for, which under the ePrivacy rules is what makes it exempt from needing consent.
Items stored in your browser by wellpal.io, with purpose, type and duration
Name
What it does
Type
Kept for
wellpal.theme
A light-or-dark preference saved by an earlier version of this site. The site no longer offers that control — it follows your device’s own appearance setting — so nothing writes this any more. If you have one, it is still read so your page does not flash the wrong colour.
Strictly necessary (your own display choice)
Until you clear browser data
wellpal.ai4rd.sessions
Your Ai4RD conversations. They are stored here and nowhere else — we hold no copy on a server.
Strictly necessary (the feature you asked for)
Until you delete the session or clear browser data
wellpal.ai4rd.sessions.backup-…
A safety copy written only if your browser runs out of storage while saving, so a conversation is not lost. Older backups are pruned automatically.
Strictly necessary
Until pruned or you clear browser data
wellpal.ai4rd.mode
Whether you last used Ai4RD in patient or clinical mode.
Strictly necessary (your own choice)
Until you clear browser data
wellpal.ai4rd.consent
Records that you read and agreed to the Ai4RD notice before your first message, and which version of it — so we do not ask again, and so we can ask again if the notice materially changes.
Strictly necessary (it records a consent)
Until you clear browser data
wellpal.analytics
Your answer to the analytics switch in §III. Written only if you use it.
Strictly necessary (it records a privacy choice)
Until you clear browser data
__wellpal_persist_probe__
A single character written and deleted again in the same instant, purely to find out whether your browser allows storage at all — so we can warn you if your Ai4RD sessions will not be saved. It never persists.
Strictly necessary
Deleted immediately
wellpal.waitlist.adminKey
Only ever written on the private operator page. Held in session storage, so it disappears when the tab closes. You will never encounter this.
Strictly necessary (operator only)
Until the browser tab is closed
To clear all of them, clear site data for wellpal.io in your browser’s settings. Nothing breaks; the site simply forgets your theme and your Ai4RD history.
§ III
Anonymous page measurement, and how to switch it off
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It tells us which pages people read and roughly how many. It is the only thing on this site that measures you at all.
What it does and does not do
It sets no cookie and writes nothing to your device.
It does not follow you across other websites, build an advertising profile, or identify you personally.
It processes your IP address and browser type in transit in order to count a visit once. We never see your IP address in the result — it reaches us only as an aggregate number.
We drop the private operator page and any query string before the measurement is sent, so neither is recorded.
The data is processed by Vercel Inc. in the United States. See the Privacy Policy for how transfers out of the EEA and UK are handled.
Our legal basis, said plainly
Because nothing is stored on your device, the rule requiring consent for cookies and similar storage is not engaged. The measurement itself still involves personal data — your IP address — and we rely on legitimate interests to understand which pages are read, weighed against a use that is aggregate, non-identifying and not shared. You can object at any time, and the switch below is how.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as an objection and do not load the measurement script at all. You do not have to do anything.
Anonymous page measurement
Checking your current setting…
When your browser allows it, your choice is stored in this browser only, under the key wellpal.analytics. It is not sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data resets it, and you will need to set it again on another browser or device.
Switching it off is not cosmetic. When it is off, the measurement script is never added to the page, so your browser makes no request to the analytics service at all.
Withdrawing your Ai4RD consent
Separate from the page count, and more important: if you have used Ai4RD you agreed to a notice before your first message, and that agreement is the legal basis for handling anything health-related you typed. It has to be as easy to withdraw as it was to give, so here it is. It would be perverse to give the anonymous page count a switch and not this.
Your Ai4RD consent
Checking…
This clears the consent record only. Your saved conversations are separate — delete them individually in the Ai4RD sidebar, or clear this site’s data in your browser to remove everything at once. We hold no copy of them either way.
§ IV
Fonts, embeds, and everything we deliberately do not load
A short list, because what a site does not load matters as much as what it does.
Fonts are served from this site. Spectral, Nunito and JetBrains Mono are downloaded at build time and served from wellpal.io. Your browser never contacts Google Fonts, so your IP address is never disclosed to Google by visiting this site.
No embeds. There are no iframes, no embedded videos, no social widgets, no comment systems, no chat widgets, no maps, and no tracking pixels anywhere on this site.
No advertising, and no sale of data. There is no ad network, no retargeting, no data broker, and nothing that would count as selling or sharing your personal information under US state privacy laws.
Images are ours and local. Every image is served from this domain. A content-security policy blocks the browser from loading images, scripts or styles from anywhere we have not explicitly allowed.
The Ai4RD chat is a separate matter: what you type there goes to the providers that generate a reply. That is described in the Privacy Policy, not here, because it is not device storage.
§ V
Changes, and how to reach us
If we add anything that stores data on your device or measures you, we will add it to the table in §II and update the revision date on this page before it ships. If we ever add something that genuinely requires consent, you will be asked for it first rather than told about it afterwards.
